Manny Vega completed phase one of his mural that he created especially for La Casa Azul bookstore today in El Barrio. In collaboration with La Casa Azul owner Aurora Anaya-Cerda, Manny created a pice that included writers of El Barrio who have passed, Frida Kahlo (who was one of the inspirations for the bookstore) and pieces from Aurora’s life including a rose that represents her mother. With the collaboration of La Casa Azul and Manny Vega, this bookstore and mural is sure to add an everlasting piece of history and rich culture to this already eccentric neighborhood. hp.
