Over the past two weeks students have protested against Mexico’s two dominant TV networks claiming they are “anti democratic.”

They were lambasted earlier this month for broadcasting a talent show and a soccer match instead of the first debate between Mexico’s presidential candidates. But TV Azteca and Televisa, Mexico’s two dominant TV networks, this week said that they will show the country’s second presidential debate on their most popular channels.
The decision appears to be an effort by the networks to make amends with critics such as a growing group of student protesters who have targeted the networks recently, claiming they are undemocratic and disinterested in public service.
